Cannon
As a second semester student in the manufacturing class, I worked in a roup of three to design and create a cannan capable of firing a bullet in order to create a noise and smoke but no projectile. As the lead on the project I used solidworks and camworks to design the part. Camworks was used to cut each part using a program set up by myself. There were five total manufactured parts; the wheels, two different size clamps, the base, and an end cap. All five of these parts were manufactured using a bed mill. The barrol was a precut piece of alluminum which we used the mechanical lathe to cut to the appropriate size. All parts were held together using rods that we hand threaded and press fit into the base. Due to limitations on equipment and parts the end cap required gluing on the part instead of threading which would have been prefered.
